Why are you interested in Symposium? As we gradually move into the post-pandemic reality, the meaning of globalization becomes more complex. In this context, what does liberal arts education mean to you? (around 300 words)

Please answer one of the two questions below in around 300 words (the texts are linked in the title):

 

(1) Read Franz Kafka’s short story “ The Care of a Family Man ”. What does Odradek look, sound, or feel like? (feel free to draw and upload a picture of Odradek as you imagine it to be). How does the narrator feel about the presence of Odradek and why? Does Odradek represent anything, or remind you of anything in your life?

(2) Read Ocean Vuong’s poem “ Aubade with the Burning City ”. What is the poem about? What are some images or colors in the poem that you find interesting or disturbing? What do the italicized words represent? What is special about the poem’s meter, rhythm, repetition, and what effects do they — as well as the italics — create?
